Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marian Central Catholic). They enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over the Chicago Christian Knights on Monday. Given the Hurricanes' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Knights are ranked 486th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Marian Central Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Juliette Huff, who went 6 for 14 on her way to 13 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Meinhold, who posted eight points in addition to nine boards and four blocks.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imani Frazier, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Frazier is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kihra Moes, who put up 13 points and six rebounds.

Marian Central Catholic has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Chicago Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Marian Central Catholic will challenge Bishop McNamara at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Chicago Christian, they will take on Aurora Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
