Basketball Recap: Chase Mcginness' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Moriah over Beekmantown

Moriah was the 66-59 winner over Beekmantown when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Moriah Vikings fell 74-63 to the Beekmantown Eagles on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Several Vikings players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Chase McGinness, who posted 20 points along with seven boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Allen, who scored 21 points.

Even though they lost, Moriah smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

Moriah's loss dropped their record down to 14-5. As for Beekmantown, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-7.

The future could be bright for both Moriah and Beekmantown: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Moriah will look to extend Lake Placid's five-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Beekmantown will try to hand Peru their ninth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
