Baseball Recap: Routt Catholic Triumphs

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Routt Catholic had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 victory over the West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] Cougars. The win continues a trend for the Rockets in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won seven in a row.

Routt Catholic got a great performance from Brock Runyon as he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Runyon has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Routt Catholic's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Jace Lautemann, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Routt Catholic's record now sits at 23-12. As for West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs], with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-6.

As of now, neither Routt Catholic nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
