Softball Recap: Waldron Bulldogs vs. Elkins Elks

Waldron was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They fell 12-9 to the Elkins Elks. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their loss to the Elks from their previous meeting back in April of 2019.

Waldron got a good showing from Sierra Helms, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Leah Shorts and Khloe Summit stepped up to the plate in a big way. Shorts went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Summit scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Chloe Richmond was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Even though they lost, Waldron was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. The last time their batting average was this high was since the start of last season.

Waldron's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Elkins, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waldron will venture away from home to face off against Centerpoint at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Elkins, they are taking a road trip to challenge Fayetteville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
