Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Athens Bulldogs a 4-0 shutout.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin got a great performance from Jack Montague as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Montague has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Frankie Clark was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Seamus Welsh also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin's win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Athens, with the defeat, they broke their eight-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin will take on Cardinal at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Athens, they will head out to face off against New Lexington at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.27 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
