Baseball Recap: Portland Takes a Loss

Portland extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 4-4 in the process. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ellington Knights. The Highlanders were not able to make up for their defeat to the Knights from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Ethan Wells made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Cade Moden also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

As for Ellington, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

On Ellington's side, the team relied heavily on Chase Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Liam Hebert, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Coming up, Portland will host RHAM at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Ellington, they are taking a road trip to take on Bolton at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bulldogs have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
