Bridges Prep won the last time they faced Lake Marion and things went their way on Thursday too. The Buccaneers put the hurt on the Gators with a sharp 14-3 victory. The Buccaneers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by 11 runs or more this season.
James Williams made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Blake Fridley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Bryce Young was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Bridges Prep has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. Looking ahead, Bridges Prep will head out to face off against Pinewood Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
