Basketball Game Preview: Greene Central Rams vs. West Craven Eagles

Greene Central has gone 9-1 against West Craven recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Greene Central Rams will face off against the West Craven Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Greene Central knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully West Craven likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Greene Central came up short against Washington and fell 67-60. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Pam Pack are ranked 44th).

Greene Central's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nick Avent, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, and Joshua Cetnar, who went 6 for 8 on his way to 13 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave Avent a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dontrez Evans, who posted ten points and four steals.

Meanwhile, West Craven played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They lost 75-49 to Washington. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

West Craven's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Greene Central, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Greene Central strolled past West Craven in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 87-69. The rematch might be a little tougher for Greene Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
