Basketball Recap: Blue Valley North's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Blue Valley North on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 57-40 win over the Lincoln East Spartans. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Kansas, while the Spartans are ranked 136th in Nebraska), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Spartans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Nolan O'Neill, who posted eight points. Luke Larson was another key player, putting up eight points and seven rebounds.

Blue Valley North is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.2 points per game. As for Lincoln East, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
