Basketball Recap: Westminster Christian Comes Up Short

Westminster Christian played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 66-36 loss at the hands of the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 33-10.

Defeat or not, Westminster Christian got some senior leadership from Dwight Whipple and Brayden Hendrikse. Whipple went 5 for 9 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds, while Hendrikse posted eight points and six rebounds.

Leading Pembroke Pines Charter to victory were Robert Guishard and Maximo Ortega. Guishard dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Ortega went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points in addition to six assists and three steals. Guishard has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Hughes, who put up nine points.

Westminster Christian's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5.

Westminster Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-64 victory against Sports Leadership & Management on the 3rd. As for Pembroke Pines Charter, they will take on McArthur at 7:30 p.m. on January 7th. One thing working in Pembroke Pines Charter's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.
