Baseball Recap: Leeds Finds Home Field Redemption Against John Carroll Catholic

There's no place like home for Leeds, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Greenwave: when they faced off against the Cavaliers last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-5 defeat.

Gavin S Howard looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Leeds let Graham Gulock and Grayson Ford run wild. Gulock scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Ford scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs Ford has posted since back in February.

Leeds pushed their record up to 20-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for John Carroll Catholic, with the loss, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leeds will head out to take on Tuscaloosa Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for John Carroll Catholic, they will venture away from home to face off against Gardendale at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
