Baseball Recap: Vanden Takes a Loss

Vanden was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 6-2 to the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles.

Jackson Armstrong put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Mariano Gonzalez was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

Vanden's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Clayton Valley Charter, the victory keeps they at an undefeated 8-0.

Looking ahead, Vanden will be playing at home against Del Campo at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Del Campo will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Vanden surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they will head out to face off against Concord at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Concord's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Clayton Valley Charter's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
