Mexico had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Kirksville Tigers. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Kaden Benne spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Drew DeMint was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one home run. Kael Smith also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mexico's record is now 15-8. As for Kirksville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Mexico will venture away from home to face off against Palmyra at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season. As for Kirksville, they will be playing at home against Savannah at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
