Owsley County extends road losing streak to five

Recap: Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls vs. Wolfe County Wolves

The Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls pushed their score all the way to 63 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wolfe County. Owsley County has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Wolfe County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Flinchum, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds. Flinchum set a new season high mark in blocks with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Creech, who scored 19 points.

Owsley County bumped their record down to 2-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Wolfe County, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Owsley County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Powell County at 6:00 p.m. on January 5th. Powell County knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight contests -- so hopefully Owsley County likes a good challenge. As for Wolfe County, they will be playing at home against Breathitt County at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
