Softball Recap: Montpelier Locomotives vs. Stryker Panthers

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Montpelier). Everything went their way against the Stryker Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 34-1 win. The Locomotives haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Madelyn Hopper made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Kelsie Bumb was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Maggie Jacob also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Montpelier hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
