Basketball Game Preview: St. Joseph D Defenders vs. Whitefield Academy Lions

The St. Joseph D Defenders will head out to take on the Whitefield Academy Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

St. Joseph D is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Cornerstone Family on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. St. Joseph D was beaten by Cornerstone Family 71-33. The Defenders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-20.

Meanwhile, Whitefield Academy hadn't done well against Blue Ridge Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way back in December of 2024. Whitefield Academy blew past Blue Ridge Christian 71-44. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 179th, while the Warriors are ranked 515th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Joseph D's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Whitefield Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-1.

St. Joseph D was dealt a bruising 64-31 loss at the hands of Whitefield Academy when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can St. Joseph D avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
