Softball Recap: California City Ravens vs. North Stars

California City couldn't beat North on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the seventh inning. The Ravens took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Stars. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Nevaeh Ramirez was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Natasha Aguirre made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Lana Isreal, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

California City's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for North, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-10.

Looking ahead, California City will challenge Kern Valley at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Ravens' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncs have averaged an impressive 9.5 runs per game this season. North does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
