Softball Recap: Narraguagus Beats Sumner for Their Fourth Straight Win

Narraguagus had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Sumner on Friday. The Knights blew past the Tigers 6-0. Considering the Knights have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sumner's batters probably weren't too happy with Natalie Stanwood, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up three walks). Stanwood has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Paidyn Cashman, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Madelyn Chipman also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

The win (which was Narraguagus' fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sumner, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Narraguagus does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Sumner, they will welcome Bangor Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
