Basketball Game Preview: Fairbury Jeffs vs. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles

The Fairbury Jeffs will take on the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles in a tournament on Saturday. Fairbury is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Fairbury was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 50-44 to Centennial.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Micah Friesen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izzy Ohlde, who posted 17 points and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Bruning-Davenport/Shickley played a tough match on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Cross County 63-22. The Eagles have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Fairbury's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Fairbury skirted past Bruning-Davenport/Shickley 37-34 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Will Fairbury repeat their success, or does Bruning-Davenport/Shickley have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
