Softball Recap: Cumberland Extends Home Winning Streak to Three

Cumberland's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Neoga Indians a 13-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Mia Holsapple was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Holsapple was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

In other batting news, Noraa Cross was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jude Miller, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Cumberland's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Neoga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.

Cumberland will head out to face off against Argenta-Oreana at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bombers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Neoga, they will face off against Altamont at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
