Basketball Recap: Meadowbrook Takes a Loss

Meadowbrook was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Monacan Chiefs and fell 69-16. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 373rd, while the Chiefs are ranked 54th).

Trinity Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Monacan, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten boards. Jones' evening made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Lila Donnelly was another key player, putting up ten points and six assists.

Meadowbrook's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Monacan, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-3.

Meadowbrook has already played their next match (against Carver College and Career Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Monacan won't have much time to rest: their next game is against James River Midlothian at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Monacan knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully James River Midlothian likes a good challenge.
