Basketball Recap: North Park Extends Winning Streak to Three

North Park had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 47-41 W over the Hayden Tigers. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

North Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Reyes, who posted 20 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Reyes continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Gavin Pittington, who scored 12 points and four steals.

Despite the loss, Hayden still got an impressive performance from Cameron Morrison, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Morrison a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Preston, who earned 12 points and three steals.

North Park has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Hayden, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

North Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 53-31 defeat against De Beque on the 18th. Hayden has also already played their next matchup, a 68-40 loss against Vail Mountain on the 18th.
