Baseball Game Preview: Franklin Wildcats vs. Bellbrook Golden Eagles

For the second straight game, Franklin will face off against Bellbrook. The Wildcats will welcome the Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Franklin fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Bellbrook on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Golden Eagles by a score of 6-5.

Aiden Standifer put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had over his last four contests. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Zach Beeson made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another player making a difference was Andrew Cooke, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Bellbrook is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.
