Recap: West Ashley Wildcats vs. Berkeley Stags
The West Ashley Wildcats were the 56-50 winner over the Berkeley Stags when they last played one another last Monday, but their luck changed this time around. West Ashley fell to Berkeley 63-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Despite the loss, West Ashley saw an underclassman step up: Kendall Mack scored 13 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Mack set a new season high mark in assists with six. Another player making a difference was Lavelle Minus, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
West Ashley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Berkeley, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1.
West Ashley will take on James Island at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. James Island is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Berkeley, they will head out on the road to face off against Timberland at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Timberland will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Berkeley is ranked 22nd).
