Softball Recap: Temecula Valley Takes a Loss

Temecula Valley had lost nine straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 7-16 to make it ten. They lost 15-0 to the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Golden Bears haven't been shut out since back in March.

As for Murrieta Valley, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-12. 15 seems to be a good number for they as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Murrieta Valley's part, Charlotte Thayer tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Thayer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Evun Seeforth, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tiffany Karg, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Temecula Valley will face off against Lakeside at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. Murrieta Valley will be paying especially close attention to Temecula Valley's matchup: after Temecula Valley faces off against Lakeside, they'll take on Murrieta Valley again at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
