Volleyball Recap: Western Beats Orange for Their Sixth Straight Win

Western had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Orange on Thursday. The Western Pioneers blew past the Orange Panthers 3-0. The victory was familiar territory for the Pioneers, who have now won six games in a row.

Western never let Orange on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-15, 25-22.

Leading Western to victory were Byron Miranda and Nathaniel Dumangas. Miranda had 19 digs and two assists, while Dumangas had 22 assists and three aces. That's the most aces Dumangas has posted since back in February.

Western pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Orange, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Western will be playing in front of their home fans against Magnolia at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Orange, they will head out to square off against Saddleback at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
