Recap: Osmond/Randolph Hawks vs. Winside Wildcats

The Osmond/Randolph Hawks came into Monday's matchup having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They snuck past Winside with a 59-55 win on Monday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Osmond/Randolph's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Xander Brown, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. Brown is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Buchanan, who scored 14 points along with two steals.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Caleb Offner, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Kaden Hunt was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds.

Osmond/Randolph's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-12. As for Winside, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-10.

Osmond/Randolph will take on the Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Hartington-Newcastle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Thursday. As for Winside, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Stanton is ranked 263rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 238th).
