Shaker skates past Schenectady with ease

Recap: Shaker Bison vs. Schenectady Patriots

The Shaker Bison won the last time they faced the Schenectady Patriots, and things went their way on Friday too. Shaker breezed by Schenectady on the road to the tune of 63-34. Given Shaker's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Schenectady is ranked 473rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Shaker to victory were Giada Lanni and Sofia Lanni. Lanni scored nine points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Lanni scored seven points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Carrington, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Shaker used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Schenectady. Three players got more time on the court than they're used to: Sadia Temple (13), Andrea Camara (ten), and Mahala Rootes (13). The trio had averaged 5.86, 4.2, and 6.93 minutes respectively before Friday's match. Rootes made the most of the opportunity, scoring four points. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.

Shaker is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Schenectady, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Shaker does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Schenectady, they will head out on the road to face off against Ballston Spa at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Schenectady is coming into the matchup with nine straight defeats on the road, meaning Ballston Spa will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
