Softball Preview: Seymour Eagles vs. South-Doyle Cherokees

The Seymour Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the South-Doyle Cherokees at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Seymour is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Last Thursday, Seymour came up short against Fulton and fell 7-3.

Meanwhile, South-Doyle fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Harriman on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Blue Devils by a score of 8-7. South-Doyle has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Natalie Smithers and Kathryn McGlothlan stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smithers scored a run while going 2-for-5, while McGlothlan went 3-for-5 with a stolen base, two RBI, and a double. Another player making a difference was Emily McGlothlan, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Even though they lost, South-Doyle hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harriman struck out 11 times.

Seymour's record now sits at 3-12. As for South-Doyle, their record now sits at 6-8.
