Basketball Recap: Wake Prep Academy Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

Wake Prep Academy won the last time they faced St. Thomas More Academy, and Beanie Ballman did her part to make sure it happened again. The Wake Prep Academy Guardians enjoyed a cozy 56-42 win over the St. Thomas More Academy Chancellors on Monday thanks in part to Ballman, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 13 points and seven steals. Ballman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

The team also got some help courtesy of Chelsea Lange, who posted seven points and five steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in steals.

St. Thomas More Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maire Kelly, who had 15 points. Adella Dehring was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Wake Prep Academy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points per game. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wake Prep Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Raleigh Charter at 6:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. As for St. Thomas More Academy, they will head out to challenge Cary Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. St. Thomas More Academy is facing Cary Academy at the right time seeing as Cary Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
