Softball Recap: Waynesfield-Goshen Has No Trouble Against Cory-Rawson

Waynesfield-Goshen came out on top against Cory-Rawson on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Tigers blew past the Fighting Hornets 10-0. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Tarynn Vorhes was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Abbi Brown, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Arya Sneary was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Waynesfield-Goshen's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Cory-Rawson, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Waynesfield-Goshen wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 1-0 defeat against Elgin on the 22nd. As for Cory-Rawson, they have also already played their next game, a 17-8 victory against Perry on the 22nd.
