Baseball Game Preview: Sehome Mariners vs. Burlington-Edison Tigers

Sehome is 2-8 against Burlington-Edison since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Mariners will head out on the road to face off against the Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Burlington-Edison took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sehome, who comes in off a win.

Sehome will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Oak Harbor, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Mariners walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Wildcats on Wednesday.

Hudson Neff spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits. He is becoming a predictor of Sehome's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is undefeated (and 2-6 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gunnar Tweit, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Burlington-Edison didn't have quite enough to beat Mount Vernon on Wednesday and fell 6-4. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by exactly two runs.

Cody Roetcisoender made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 3-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Burlington-Edison and nudges their season record down to 7-3. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only two runs. As for Sehome, their record is now 5-6.
