Softball Game Preview: Pyramid Lake Lakers vs. Pahranagat Valley Panthers

The Pyramid Lake Lakers will take on the Pahranagat Valley Panthers at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Saturday, Pyramid Lake came up short against Wells and fell 7-4. The Lakers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Janae Dunn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Samantha Nakai, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pahranagat Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. Everything went their way against Round Mountain on Saturday as they made off with a 15-0 win. Considering the Panthers have won 19 matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Pahranagat Valley got a massive performance out of Alivia Walch, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Walch a new career-high. Shada Spencer was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Pahranagat Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.1 runs over those games. As for Pyramid Lake, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-8.

Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Pyramid Lake has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Pahranagat Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .545. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
