Baseball Recap: Grace Christian Comes Up Short

Grace Christian extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They came up short against the Palmer Moose, falling 16-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Moose this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-0 on May 1st.

As for Palmer, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by six runs or more this season.

For Palmer's part, Tristan Barrey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Barrey has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Reed Craner was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Palmer is undefeated when Craner posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Avery Shults was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Grace Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Palmer, they will venture away from home to square off against Homer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Moose's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mariners have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
