Baseball Recap: de Toledo Comes Up Short

De Toledo had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-12 to make it eight. They came up short against the Milken Wildcats, falling 12-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-2 on Tuesday.

As for Milken, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

For Milken's part, Elijah Shokrian was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Shokrian has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. He has become a key player for Milken: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 8-9 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Jordan Liebman tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Milken let Alex Rosoff and Benjamin Feiner run wild. Rosoff went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Feiner went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those three hits gave Rosoff a new career-high. Julian Bereny also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, de Toledo will challenge Reseda at 1:30 p.m. on Friday. The Regents' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Jaguars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Milken, they will take on Oakwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
