Recap: Capital City Public Charter School EAGLES vs. SEED DC
The Capital City Public Charter School EAGLES entered their tilt with SEED DC with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Capital City Public Charter School sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-51 win over SEED DC on Thursday. This was payback for Capital City Public Charter School, who suffered a 68-38 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Leading Capital City Public Charter School to victory were Drew Whittington and Kelvin Davis. Whittington dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds, while Davis scored 13 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Davis is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. David Whittington was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Wendell Allsbrook and Noah Mercer certainly did their best on Thursday to try and avoid the loss. Allsbrook scored 14 points, while Mercer scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Demitree Carter, who scored seven points.
Capital City Public Charter School's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for SEED DC, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Capital City Public Charter School will take on BASIS at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. BASIS has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2. As for SEED DC, they will head out on the road to face off against KIPP DC Legacy College Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in District of Columbia (KIPP DC Legacy College Prep is ranked 21st, while SEED DC is ranked 35th).
