The Northside Mustangs will square off against the Von Steuben Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northside will be strutting in after a win while Von Steuben will be coming in after a loss.
Northside barely beat Francis W. Parker the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Colonels on Monday. The Mustangs not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19, 2024.

Will Moran looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Jesse Nick was a standout: he scored two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rowan Dragovic, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Von Steuben was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Niles West, falling 7-1. The contest marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Von Steuben also got a good showing from Isaiah Davalos, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and not a single walk). Davalos has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Von Steuben saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Axel Rivera, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for Northside and bumps their season record up to 2-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Von Steuben, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2-2.
Northside might still be hurting after the 12-1 loss they got from Von Steuben when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Mustangs have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
