Volleyball Recap: Grace Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Grace Christian Academy was the 3-0 winner over Colquitt County when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. The Cougars fell just short of the Packers by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Grace Christian Academy started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 24-26, 23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 15-6.

Elijah Grace Cawvey paced Grace Christian Academy's offense, picking up 13 kills. Cawvey got some help from Sawyer Holt and her 23 assists. Finally, Madison Powell kept Grace Christian Academy's defense grounded, leading the team with six blocks.

Grace Christian Academy now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Colquitt County, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grace Christian Academy will head out to face off against Tift County on Monday. As for Colquitt County, they will venture away from home to challenge Brookstone at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
