Baseball Game Preview: McAllen Memorial Mustangs vs. Rowe Warriors

McAllen Memorial hasn't had much luck against Rowe recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The McAllen Memorial Mustangs will head out to challenge the Rowe Warriors at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

McAllen Memorial took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They walked away with a 4-1 win over Weslaco.

Emilio Preza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Kane Coy was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Etziel Gonzalez also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Rowe entered their tilt with Floresville on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 13-2 margin over the Tigers/Jaguars. Rowe's victory was all the more impressive since the Tigers/Jaguars were averaging only 3.93 runs allowed on the season.

McAllen Memorial is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. Rowe's win bumped their record up to 8-6.

McAllen Memorial came up short against Rowe in their previous matchup on Tuesday, falling 5-1. Can McAllen Memorial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
