Softball Recap: Sweetwater Gets the Win

Sweetwater is still undefeated this season after their game against McMinn Central on Monday, but McMinn Central came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Sweetwater Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the McMinn Central Chargers a 2-0 shutout. While the Wildcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 5-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Not much got past Sadie Scott, who gave up just four hits and racked up 15 Ks to keep McMinn Central off the board. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Scott.

On the hitting side, Victoria Thompson was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Sweetwater's win bumped their record up to 4-0. As for McMinn Central, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Sweetwater wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Polk County on the 11th. As for McMinn Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-7 defeat against Bradley Central on the 11th.
