Basketball Recap: Northern Valley Huskies vs. Weskan Coyotes
Northern Valley lost against Weskan back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Northern Valley Huskies were dealt an 81-37 loss at the hands of the Weskan Coyotes. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 313th, while the Coyotes are ranked 118th).

Several Huskies players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gavin Thalheim, who posted 14 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Thalheim is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin McKinney, who put up four points and seven boards.
Even though they lost, Northern Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in three consecutive matchups.
Weskan had a senior duo take command as Trey Allen dropped a double-double on 25 points and 12 rebounds and Judah Crow dropped a double-double on 22 points and 13 boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crow has scored all season. Eli Aldridge was another key player, putting up 12 points.
Northern Valley dropped their record down to 4-12 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Weskan, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Northern Valley has already played their next contest (against Western Plains), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Weskan and Golden Plains will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Weskan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six games.
