Soccer Game Preview: South Mountain vs. Higley

The South Mountain Jaguars and the Higley Knights will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

South Mountain fell victim to Goldwater and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly two goals.

Meanwhile, Higley also failed to score in their most recent game. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Campo Verde an easy 6-0 win. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Coyotes are ranked eighth).

Higley's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for South Mountain, they now have a losing record at 2-3-1.

South Mountain came out on top in a nail-biter against Higley when the teams last played back in January, sneaking past 3-2. Does South Mountain have another victory up their sleeve, or will Higley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
