Softball Recap: Odem Drops Highest Score of Season Against West Oso

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Odem). Everything went their way against the West Oso Bears on Friday as the Odem Owls made off with a 22-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Owls in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won six in a row.

Aria Bray made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in February of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI.

In other batting news, Harper Dredla was a standout: she scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Adriana Grady, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.

Odem always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Odem's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-10. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 11.2 hits in those games compared to only 3.23 in the others. As for West Oso, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Odem has already played their next matchup, an 8-4 victory against Aransas Pass on the 18th. As for West Oso, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 18-0 loss against Mathis on the 18th.
