Basketball Game Preview: Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals vs. Concordia Mustangs

The Doniphan-Trumbull Cardinals will square off against the Concordia Mustangs at 10:45 a.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Doniphan-Trumbull is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They walked away with a 57-45 win over Ogallala. 57 seems to be a good number for the Cardinals as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Doniphan-Trumbull can attribute much of their success to Parker Volk, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine rebounds, and Jack Poppe, who went 7-for-16 en route to 23 points along with five assists and five boards. Poppe's afternoon made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 19 points. Another player making a difference was Ty Bennett, who posted ten points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Doniphan-Trumbull was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They are 18-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Meanwhile, Concordia didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sidney on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 49-45 win.

Concordia's victory bumped their record up to 22-4. As for Doniphan-Trumbull, their win bumped their record up to 19-6.

Doniphan-Trumbull came up short against Concordia when the teams last played back in January, falling 51-38. Can Doniphan-Trumbull avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
