Basketball Recap: De Soto Extends Winning Streak to Three

De Soto had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They strolled past the Seneca Indians with points to spare, taking the game 52-35. The Pirates have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

De Soto's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sylvia Krueger, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Krueger has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. Kylee Venner was another key player, putting up 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

De Soto smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 24 consecutive matches dating back to last season.

De Soto's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Seneca, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. De Soto will challenge Ithaca at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Seneca, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against North Crawford at 7:15 p.m.
