Basketball Game Preview: Marquette Crusaders vs. Yorkville Christian Mustangs

The Marquette Crusaders will head out to challenge the Yorkville Christian Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marquette is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Last Friday, Marquette came up short against Woodland and fell 63-50.

While Yorkville Christian didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on Johnsburg with a sharp 84-64 win on Saturday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 20 points or more this season.

Yorkville Christian has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 78.8 points per game. As for Marquette, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything went Marquette's way against Yorkville Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as Marquette made off with an 85-61 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Yorkville Christian's Jayden Riley, who went 9 of 17 en route to 26 points and four steals.
