Football Recap: Zyon Hailey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Hopewell + How To Watch

Chambers won the last time they faced Hopewell and things went their way on Friday too. The Cougars enjoyed a cozy 34-17 victory over the Titans. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while the Titans are ranked 159th).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chambers to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zyon Hailey, who rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown, and also threw for 178 yards and one TD on only 16 passes. That's the most passing yards Hailey has posted since back in September of 2024. Tahj Brooks was another key back, rushing for 59 yards and one score on only five carries.

Despite the loss, Hopewell still got an impressive performance from Malachi Goudelock, who threw for 156 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 33 yards.

Chambers has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 34.5 points this season. As for Hopewell, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Chambers will challenge Harding University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Hopewell, they will take on Statesville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
