Baseball Recap: Skyline Comes Up Short

Skyline had lost seven straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped down to 1-17 to make it eight. They lost 16-1 to the Broomfield Eagles. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 11-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Skyline saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Wright, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

As for Broomfield, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 15 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games.

On Broomfield's side, Riley Weihing looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Weihing has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Broomfield got a big performance out of Jackson Shepherd, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Jaycob Park was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Skyline wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 11-3 victory against Montbello on the 2nd. As for Broomfield, they have also already played their next contest, a 14-4 win against Fort Collins on the 2nd.
