Game recap: Inderkum High School Football Team takes down Pioneer

WOODLAND, Calif. - Inderkum (Sacramento, Calif.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 50-6 win over Pioneer (Woodland, Calif.).

The Tigers put up 16 points in the opening frame. Inderkum scored on a touchdown run by Terence White, a Josh Montes touchdown run and a safety.

IHS was up 37-6 at the half after taking the lead on a White touchdown run in the first quarter.

The Sacramento school expanded its lead to 38 points entering the fourth quarter. The Tigers' lone score in the quarter came on a touchdown pass by C. J. Spencer.



Spencer was the top performer for Inderkum. The junior quarterback threw two touchdowns, ran for one touchdown and kicked four extra points.

Juan Carlos Ramirez played well for the Patriots. The senior ran for one touchdown. He has now scored eight touchdowns on the season.

Pioneer's lone touchdown came on a 48-yard run by Ramirez in the second quarter.

IHS entered the contest giving up 19.6 points per game this year. The defense really stepped up, holding PHS well below its season average of 18.4 points scored per game.

Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 47-20 win for Inderkum.

The defeat comes as a step back for Pioneer, which notched a 41-7 victory over Natomas in its previous outing.



In a Tri-County game next week Pioneer (4-5) takes on Woodland, and Inderkum (7-2) will go up against Natomas also in a Tri-County game.
