Recap: Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs vs. Twin Loup Wolves
The Sumner-Eddyville-Miller Mustangs won the last time they faced the Twin Loup Wolves, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller enjoyed a cozy 54-40 victory over Twin Loup. Given Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while Twin Loup is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sumner-Eddyville-Miller to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ryan Arbuthnot, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Arbuthnot has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Colt Schroeder, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Sumner-Eddyville-Miller's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Twin Loup, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller will take on Overton at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Overton knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Sumner-Eddyville-Miller likes a good challenge. As for Twin Loup, they will head out on the road to face off against Central Valley at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Central Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday.
